Exam technique is not as critical for this exam as it is for the Bishop's 11+ Exam. The papers are quite long and so if your child spends too long on a question, she will normally have some time to catch up. Exam technique is not as crucial, but it can still make a big difference. Observing your daughter during a practice paper can highlight some areas where they are not getting the scores that they are capable of.
Our progress tests are either included in the week's worksheets or can be found in the online drive in a folder called Progress. You can find how to access the drive on salisburyelevenplus.com/drive. If you haven't done so already, you will need to request access to this drive using the instructions on the page.
The target is what you would hope to achieve if you are on track to pass the 11+. If you are getting about the mean, then your likelihood of passing is very good.
Foundation Course Tests
If the test is not in the worksheet, we strongly recommend downloading the tests, printing it off and completing it with a pencil (as you would in the exam) and then submitting them below.
The tests are short and so may not give a perfect reflection of your child's ability. They are just an indication. Children also often make a pig's ear of them, so don't worry too much if they are a disaster ...
Producing a report like this is a free service, for those on our course. We are happy to do this for anyone. All you need to do is register on salisburyelevenplus.com, pay a one off £25 registration fee and then pay £10 for each report.

We are now moving towards mock exam season and practice papers at home time. Mock exam and practice paper results will also be stored on your drive.
To get you started with the format of the exam, we are asking you to do the free familiarisation test provided by GL Assessment. It is important for parents to prepare their children for sitting this test. Please tell them that it is not unusual for children to have a disaster on their first 11+ style test. If they do well, fantastic. If it is a disaster, don't panic. Many others will be the same and you will get better as you get used to the format. There is still plenty of time to prepare.
GL Assessment provide these free, but it does say tutors are not allowed to link to them. Please just google "GL Assessment free materials". When you get to the correct page on 11plus.gl-assessment.co.uk, there are six sections.
You will need:
Inside the zip file you will find the test-booklets. We are only doing Maths 1, English 1 and Verbal 1. You can save the the paper 2s and Verbal 3 for another time. Print off Test 1. Do the same for the Test 1 answer sheets. You can look at the Parent's Guide for advice on how to sit the test.
The verbal reasoning paper is made up of several question types, each of which has an explanation. Stop the clock whenever you explain a section. Give them up to an hour of working time.
As this could be the first test like this, we don't want to put on too much time pressure. Give them up to an hour for each paper. If they finish in less time, record how much time they used including checking time. You can then remind them that they did Q27 in their head and got it wrong, whereas if they had use 20 seconds of their spare time to do use the method they know, they would have got it right.
Please submit your score for your child's first effort within the time allowed. Don't worry if it was a disaster. We want results to be comparable, so you don't panic if lots of girls got low scores.
Allow them to keep an eye on the time as they do the tests.
When they have finished, please submit their answers here. When that has been done, feel free to mark it yourself and go through any mistakes they made. If the link is still not ready, photograph the answer sheets and email them to us.
Summary
A report for any tests you submit will be added to your Personal Online Drive. We will include mock exam results to give you a full picture of their overall progress and to highlight any areas of weakness.
When you submit a test, you should receive an instant score together with some helpful hints on any you got wrong ...
- Did they spend too long on any questions?
- Did they not read the questions carefully enough?
- Did they leave some boxes blank?
- Did they do everything in their heads with few workings out?
- When they finished with time to spare, did they go back and look at the questions they had marked as worth looking at again, if time?
