Whilst researching sensible precautions to take we've regarded mock exams as very similar to cinemas which have been allowed to open with social distancing from July 4th. We are very lucky that our venue has easy access from the outside and excellent ventilation which should make mock exams reasonably low risk but we will of course be taking all sensible precautions.
We are, by no means, experts in the prevention of the spread of viruses and so we are open to any suggestions that you may have in how we are working. Thank you.

Keeping the infected at home
Please stay at home if our child exhibits any of the following symptoms:
- High temperature.
- A continuous cough (for more than an hour).
- Loss or change of smell or taste.
Arrival
- Wherever possible, please could candidates come to the exam with just one parent or guardian and no siblings.
- There is no parking on site, unless we give special permission, so please walk to Leehurst Swan School. There is parking on St Mark's Avenue.
https://www.salisburyelevenplus.com/leehurst-swan-school.html - We have limited the numbers in the exam and split candidates into two bubbles. You will be emailed the day before the exam to say which bubble you are in. One bubble will enter the school by the main gate and the other by the back gate. Each bubble will have its own entrance to the hall, will sit in a different halves of the hall, will take breaks in separate locations and have its own set of toilets.
- Whilst queuing and at all times children should stay at least 2 m apart from each other.
- Parents are not allowed on site and we will take care of children from either the main gate or the back gate.
- As children come into our care they will be given some sanitiser to apply to their hands.
- Staff will wear clear head visors.
- Children are advised to wear face masks whilst walking around inside the hall. They are not needed when seated or when outside, although they are of course free to wear them whenever they like.
The Hall
- All doors and windows will be kept open even if it gets cold. Please bring extra layers. The side of the hall will be pushed back to give lots of ventilation.
- Children will sit at individual desks that are placed well apart.
- There will be no sharing of equipment, so please bring adequate pencils, rubbers, rulers, drinks, snacks, watches etc.
- Exam instructions will be given without shouting or screaming!
- Exam papers will have been printed a few days beforehand and left untouched in a box. We will wash hands and sanitise before handing them out.
Breaks
- Children will be encouraged to wash their hands between papers.
https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/best-way-to-wash-your-hands/ - Toilets will be limited to a sensible maximum occupancy and children will be reminded to stay at a sensible distance whilst entering and leaving.
- During the break, children can chat to other children in their bubble provided they are socially distanced.
- Children should not share their drinks and snacks.
Departure
- Parents should wait just inside the main entrance or back gate (on school grounds rather than public pathways) and children will be brought to you.
- Please do not stand around chatting as we need to make sure one exam has cleared before the next arrives.
- Between exams we need to clean the hall, chairs, desks and toilets so please arrive promptly to collect your child. If you are late for collection from the back gate, you may need to come to the main gate.
Thank you for your co-operation.
